Natural Cures for Depression – Treating Depression the Natural Way

Sometimes we get the blues, but the problem begins if you get them more often than usual. Perhaps it is already something worse, like depression. However, unless you feel you are experiencing a grave case worthy of psychological consultation, wouldnâ??t you want a natural cure for depression? By using a natural cure for depression instead of popping pills, you need not be worried about side effects. Read on and see which of these natural depression-busting cures can help you get out of that melancholy mood the quickest.

Laughter is still the best medicine. Laughing heartily is arguably the cheapest and most effective healing method available. Let funny movies and shows give you a lift. Get together with friends who like telling jokes, even corny ones. Sometimes, it is the utmost â??corny-nessâ? of the joke that can make you laugh.

Surround yourself with positive people and things. As depression is a state of mind, being with positive people and things can help you overcome negativity and misery. Keep company with people who are positive and easy to be with. Avoid people who like to criticize or complain.

Keep favorite things within your reach â?? your favorite book, favorite (happy) music, and other things that give you pleasure.

Make a gratitude list. No matter how bad things may be going on in your life, there will always be a â??rainbow after the rain. â? So make a list of the things you are grateful for. Add new things to that list everyday or on a regular basis. Whenever depression sets in, take out that list, review it, and be thankful for all your blessings.

Visualize. Close your eyes, breathe deeply and imagine yourself in a specific scene where you are happy or having fun. (You can actually turn this scene into reality!) You can also visualize a golden beam of light shining through your body. Feel the warmth and love from that light.

Depression, as mentioned, is a state of mind. By focusing on the positive and giving minimal attention to the negative, you will start to feel good and may even feel empowered to make positive changes in your life. Hope these effective natural cures for depression helps you live life to the fullest.

I have this favorite hate object. I’m completely for natural remedies in general, but I am tired of hearing that this is the main way to go. For example, the herb St. John. . . . . People think that if you take it, it will be better because it has no side effects. Yes, and it is not regulated in any way, so be very careful. While the scientific debate thing! Antidepressants and natural remedies can work together, and I do not think one is better than the other, it all depends on the person. What do you think?
