{question}

Another uni project: “hsaapdpy” or “manic depressant”. No, I wasn’t influenced by the Joker from Batman, I was influenced by creepy clowns from an illustrated fairytale book that I was read when I was a little girl. We were assigned this in December or November, just a 2 day project where we were supposed to make a film using still shots and background music to respond to a poem. The poem was entitled “manicdepressant” with only 3 vague lines: “Sometimes I’M HAPPY Sometimes I’m sad; sometimes I’M hsaapdpy.” I was reminded of clowns from the manic way the poet wrote, somehow, which is why my face is painted so obscurely. Happy and sad and twisted and crazy and manic and terrifying and dark clowns. All of these. So, bear the lines of the poem in mind when you watch this video, with particular regard to the last line in the parts that appear to become muddled and confusing. It’s only 48 seconds long.
