Spotting the Signs of Depression Can Literally Save Lives

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

Image taken on by .
Everyone feels down sometimes, and this is normal. However, clinical depression is lasting and intense – in the darkness can be overwhelming to an individual. Some victims describe clinical depression as “living in a black hole, or have a sense of hopelessness that can not escape. Clinical depression can last for more than a couple of weeks, as opposed to” normal “depression that lasts more than a few days.
Some people suffering from clinical depression do not feel sorry at all – instead, they have a lingering feeling of emptiness. They are generally apathetic and insensitive to the joy and pleasure, even when you go through the activities they normally have. Is usually a clear sign of clinical depression.
For a physician or other health care professionals to diagnose clinical depression in a person, should be most of the following symptoms are observed in the patient for at least two weeks.
Problems with sleep. Normal individuals show a relatively steady trend of sleep. Do you have trouble sleeping (or its opposite – too much sleep) is typical of clinically depressed people. When a person wakes up in the middle of the night or early morning, and finds himself unable to sleep on, can be a sign of clinical depression.
Complicated thinking or concentration. A clinically depressed person may have difficulty concentrating, making decisions, and remember. These problems may conflict with the pursuit of a person at school or at work, and he may not be able to keep a job until the episode passes.
Weight changes. Clinical depression can cause a person to lose or gain weight suddenly. Sudden changes in appetite is a sign of this. Weight change will also lead to a range of other health problems (eg hypertension), further exacerbating the conditions of the individual.
Irritability and anxiety. Clinically depressed people may seem unusually restless, nervous, irritable and easily annoyed. They may also feel worried or scared for no reason. For many people suffering from depression, this is the first symptom that people around them notice.
Marked fatigue. Depressed people feel tired almost every day, or at least see a marked decline in energy levels. Some people may feel waking up from a night’s sleep so tired that they were the night before. Others may even feel that they are moving in slow motion, or speak in a slow and monotonous speech.
Self-esteem suffers. Clinical depression is almost always due to a person to feel worthless or guilty, often for no apparent reason.
Decreased interest in sex. Sexually active individuals can usually see a significant decline in sexual activity. For most people this is reason enough to worry about.
The idea of death. Depression can cause people to see themselves, their situation, and the future very negative. This can lead to thoughts of death, dying, or even suicide.
In addition to the above-noted symptoms, depression can also cause a variety of physical problems, such as gastrointestinal upset (indigestion, diarrhea, constipation, etc.), headaches, back pain and muscle aches.

10 Key Signs of Depression

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

Image taken on by .
Let me say from the outset – depresssion is nothing to be ashamed or feel guilty. Affects millions of people. Could be a chemical imbalance or a mental dysfunction. More importantly, can be treated successfully.
How do you know when someone is suffering from depression or manic-depressive disorder? We can not understand that each type of symptoms of depression are not really hidden or mysterious. They are clearly, if you know what to look for. While it is actually quite easy to overlook these symptoms, and not be able to help themselves or others who suffer from depression. It may be too close to see the forest for the trees, so to speak.
There are actually many symptoms of depression. Some people can not see or hear every day that makes them harder to identify. Because the symptoms of depression actually vary, vary the time of their “attacks” as well.
Here are 10 of the most common symptoms of depression:
1) long period of sadness or not feeling “up to”. This is always that feeling of “I’m not in the mood.” This person would be pretty depressed around the house and feel sorry for themselves.
2) A sense of hopelessness, perennial pessimisism, speaking of feeling sorry for themselves. This helps you to feel that he / she has nothing to look forward to in his life. As for being perennial pessimist, demonstrating that symptoms of depression are usually very negative things, again, the feeling of desperation to think about.
3) The debt-driven and loss of self-esteem. Overwhelming feelings of guilt over something you can actually make you feel very sad and you do not deserve to be happy. Thus, loss of self-esteem. If you feel that are not worthy to be happy or fun, this is a clear sign Tell-history of depression. Add to this a sense that things are not going the way only reinforces the feeling of being a victim of circumstances.
4) have lost the pleasure of the simple things in life, a spirit of adventure, or hobbies, anything that used to enjoy. This is especially true when you start to avoid activities that involve family or friends and be alone.
5) Fatigue, always tired or run down physically or mentally. People who suffer from depression, has lost all interest in life that they may have had previously really depleted physical energy. Moping around, not eating properly, not getting enough sleep, all lead a depressed person in a way not only of mental illness, but illnedd physical.
6) You have difficulty concentrating, poor memory and that is undecided. A person suffering from depression easily gives away this tell-tale symptoms of depression. If you are not interested in the outside world, or anything else for that matter, can lead to an inability to keep track of things, not being able to remember things that happened, or recent calls. Lack of interest actually makes depressed people very inattentive and their home quite disorganized and messy.
7) Sleep and eating disorders: lack of sufficient sleep, too much sleep, waking up early in the morning to loosen appetite to eat too much. Watch for sudden weight loss or weight gain. 8) Being suicidal, talking about death, to die, are clear signs of depression.
9) Being restless and irritable, physical symptoms such as headaches, indigestion, pain and various body parts.
10) Finally, and perhaps the most common warning signs which takes 9 already mentioned, when the closest you ever ask – “Are you okay?”. This means that you can see the problem as you do not see because they are too close to see the forest for the trees.
Call your doctor and make an appointment soon!
Your success!

6 Signs of Depression or Other Psychological Issues in Dogs

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

Image taken on by .
When Dr Joey contacted me, he wanted my help with his dogs. He had been putting up with really bad behavior from them for a long time. He was grieving terribly for his Forever Dog Friend, Satin, who had passed away. On top of that, his other best dog friend, Shami, had also recently passed away after a terrible and mysterious illness. He told me his heart was so heavy with grief that he just didnâ??t know how he could go on. His health was very bad (he was suffering from cancer) and he could hardly move because he was in so much pain. To complicate matters, his remaining three dogs were out of control. They jumped on everyone, which was terribly embarrassing. They barked and would not quiet down, and they urinated in the house. One dog would go outside — then come back inside to pee! Dutchess was physically launching an attack on the front door anytime someone just walked by, and since the door was largely glass, Dr Joey was afraid sheâ??d break the door and hurt herself in the process! He couldnâ??t take them for walks because they would pull in all directions and one dog would have to be dragged alongâ?¦ terribly frustrating and dangerous for all of them. Plus, little Zena and Zoey were afraid to go outside. And, to make matters even worse, they had begun fighting amongst themselves. He desperately wanted them to behave and didnâ??t understand why they werenâ??t. He also worried that they werenâ??t happy. And because of the tragic loss of two of his dog companions, he was very concerned about their health. Recently, the vets had insisted that Zena needed knee surgery and he was terrified she would not survive the surgery. He just couldnâ??t face losing another dog.

Click Here to Download Animal Communication Home Study Course After several holistic healing therapy and animal communication sessions, the dogs are much better behaved.   No more inappropriate indoor urination, they are happy to greet visitors more appropriately.  Dr Joey is healthier himself. And to-date, Zena has not had to have surgery as her symptoms are so much improved. Without giving your animal a voice to speak whatâ??s on their mind, we can only guess at why they are behaving the way they are. After all, who knows better how they are feeling? If they are in pain or discomfort? What works for them or doesnâ??t work? If something is confusing or frightening, and why? Here are 6 signs of depression or other psychological issues in dogs that benefit from the services of a professional animal communicator and holistic healing therapies are: 1. Urinating or defecating in their home or kennel is a major clue that something isnâ??t right in their world. A dogâ??s natural instinct tells them not to foul their own den, and when they do, that tells us there is something seriously amiss. It could be coming from an undiagnosed physical problem, but it is most often an emotional or mental reaction to their caretakerâ??s distress and anxiety, creating an unstable mindset. 2. Aggression to others indicates that they are not feeling emotionally stable in mind, body or spirit, or are being mishandled, misunderstood or mismanaged. This is most often a response to their caretakerâ??s emotional, mental or physical distress which they then take and focus outward onto their world in ways that seem appropriate to them, from their viewpoint. Proper rebalancing of both parties is critical to resolving this issue. 3. Hot spots and chronic skin problems are symptoms of an underlying condition that has to be addressed and resolved at the root or source of the issue. These problems often come from a reaction to improper diets or treats, allergies, a buildup of acquired toxicity that overwhelms their system, a messed up digestive tract because of antibiotics treatments, parasites, lack of proper supplementation, or frequently it can be a symptom of vaccination side effects. It is also a very clear indication that their caretaker is experiencing too much stress in their world, which then bleeds over energetically onto their animal. 4. Lethargy or loss of interest in exercise, play and activities is a clear indication that there is something seriously wrong. Regardless of the animalâ??s age, they should always be interested in their surroundings and happy to engage with others. Pay attention if they arenâ??t. The contributing factors can include their experience of grief or loss (of a friend, human or otherwise, or even a favorite toy or object), sadness, or undiagnosed physical discomfort. Other factors can only be discovered by communicating with them directly. 5. Fearful or skittish behavior indicates they have lost their confidence. Allowing our animal friends to continue to live in fear is a disservice to them. What they are asking for is help in regaining their confidence, their sense of place and purpose. Improper management or training efforts that are largely misunderstood or not the right approach to them have to be examined and discussed, to come up with an appropriate training style that works for them. There can also be underlying physical distress that contributes to them feeling out of balance. And of course, we have to look to their human friends to see what fears or underlying anxieties they are carrying in their own bodymind that is contributing to the problems. 6. Physical health or pain problems often have underlying emotional, mental or spiritual components that may actually be coming from their caretakers issues. If this is the case, then you will take them to the vet and theyâ??ll get misdiagnosed or worse, and youâ??ll spend a lot of money in vet bills. And youâ??ll be no better off than if you hadnâ??t gone, and sometimes actually worse off because the real problem got missed and now your animal has even more stress to deal with. So what if the real issues in all these cases is something going on in you that is causing distress in your animal? Without communicating with your animal first, youâ??ll take them to the vet and maybe youâ??ll get lucky and it will clear up anyway. But the truth may be that it wasnâ??t ever about the animal themselves, it was about a problem with you that they were unable to express in a way you could understand. The bottom line is that if your animal is not properly balanced and stable in their own body, mind and spirit, or are not healing quickly and easily as their body is designed to do, then they may be picking up and carrying their caretakerâ??s own energetic imbalances. To get the best long term result, we often have to explore deeper to discover the root of the matter. If we are imbalanced, then they will be too, because we and our animals are intricately connected in body, mind and spirit. Are you wondering what happened to Dr. Joey and his bad dogs? I heard from him a few months later on the one year anniversary of his best dog friend Satin’s passing. Amazingly, he had been able to move his clinic that summer. And, he said his personal health recovery felt like a miracle. NO more cancer of the bone marrow. Plus, his dogs, Dutchess, Zoey and Zena were all doing fine â?? no more bad behavior. Dr. Joey said that his and his dogâ??s lives had drastically changed in our work together, and he had become alpha once again creating more stability for his household. As you can imagine, Dr. Joey was deeply grateful for everyoneâ??s recovery!

Know the Signs of Depression and Improve your Life

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

Image taken on by .
Typical signs of depression actually show a change in the way a person has come to think about himself.

“I just can’t get myself to do any work around the house. My marriage is falling apart. ”

“My hair is thinning. I’m losing my looks. No one will care about me anymore. ”

These are typical thoughts of people who are depressed and show a change in thinking, feeling and acting.

Here are other signs of depression :

Continual feelings of sadness, emptiness and helplessness that seem to have no cause

Loss of interest or pleasure in ordinary activities

Decreased energy, fatigue

Sleep and/or eating problems

Difficulty concentrating and making decisions

Feelings of guilt, worthlessness and helplessness

Irritability, excessive crying

Chronic physical aches and pains that do not go away

Feelings of hopelessness

Thoughts of death or suicide, or suicide attempts

If a person shows several of the above signs of depression for an extended period (2 weeks or more) he should consult a physician.

Although the change may come on gradually, the depressed person is different from the way he was before the onset of his illness perhaps even the opposite of his usual self. There are many signs of depression confirming this change : the successful businessman who believes he is on the brink of bankruptcy, the devoted mother who wants to abandon her children, the gourmet who can’t stand food, the playboy who becomes disgusted with sex. Instead of seeking pleasure, the depressed person avoids it. Instead of caring for himself, he neglects himself and his appearance. His instinct to survive may give way to a desire to end his life. His drive to succeed may be replaced by passivity and withdrawal.

The most obvious and typical signs of depression relate to a sad mood: gloomy, lonely, apathetic. The depressed person may find himself crying even when there seems to be nothing to cry about or may find it impossible to cry when a truly sad event occurs. He may have trouble sleeping or wake early in the morning, unable to return to sleep. On the other hand, feeling constantly tired, he may sleep more than usual. He may lose his appetite and lose weight, or eat more than he does normally and gain weight.

Signs of depression also relate to self-esteem. Typically, the depressed person sees himself in a very negative way. He may believe that he is helpless and alone in the world and often blames himself for trivial faults or shortcomings. He is pessimistic about himself, about the world, and about his future. He loses interest in what is going on around him and doesn’t get satisfaction out of activities

Some people don’t show the usual signs of depression. They may complain instead of physical discomfort or suffer from alcoholism or drug addiction. When a person always seems tired or bored with what he is doing, he may actually be depressed. When bright children do poorly in school over a period of time, this too may point to depression. There is even evidence that the overly active child may be compensating for an underlying depression.

What Are The Signs Of Depression ? – When To Be On High Alert

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

Image taken on by .
If you find that you have more, fewer, or most of these possible signs of depression, you should consult a doctor because it could be a sign that depression is knocking at your door. Lack of motivation coupled with the thoughts are always sad and worried, low libido, and chronic fatigue are some of the symptoms. Sometimes these signs of depression may be only a temporary phase and can be only a few weeks. Other times, however, are indicators of a condition that can have a negative impact on our relationships, work and future.

If you find a problem controlling your temper, and changed eating habits can be signs of depression and more likely not go away by themselves. If you find that these thoughts are impossible to do your homework, you should contact your doctor or at least to obtain information on possible scenarios for treatment, since these can all be warning signs of depression.

Teenage girls are much more prone to depression than boys, in fact, the number as high as twice more. The reason for this seems to be that girls are enormous peer pressure and parental pressure, and if you look closely, a good academic performance and they just happened. This could have a devastating effect on many girls and begins to show signs of depression. There is a genetic link in that parents who have suffered or who will actually produce depressed children and adolescents who have the same problem and therefore must be alert to signs of depression. In adolescents, there seems to be a stronger link between the children’s parents and children.

Exercise, yoga, long green and diet can help improve mood, which really is the key to solve the Depression. But the drug in one form or another is often necessary. The only problem is that many depression medication has side effects that are not pleasant and can be the case even more anxiety and other symptoms of what they should care. When all signs of depression were confirmed as depression, you must decide what medicine to take, in consultation with your doctor.

Why not try a herbal treatment for depression? These are the actions that have repeatedly proven to be effective in improving mood, anxiety and loss. They are not addictive and contains no additives or color o. The main ingredient is St, John’s wort and passion flower grass is full of antioxidants that are so valuable to the overall well being.

Signs of Depression – What You Need to Look For

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Image taken on by .
Unlike illnesses like measles or the common cold, someone suffering from depression rarely show physical changes that can be easily spotted. Instead it’s their actions in everyday life that begin to change. Friends of the sufferer who don’t know much about depression can interpret these changes as either nothing important, or worse, see them as a reason to no longer be friends with the sufferer. However once you know what to look for, depression can become obvious.
If a friend or family member begins to show several (not just one or two) of these symptoms for more than two weeks, it is possible they are suffering from depression and need professional medical help.
1. The person has drastic change of appetite
Obviously if they are dieting this could explain the change. And other medical conditions can also trigger this symptom. But if someone who used to have a normal appetite suddenly starts gorging themselves (or eating almost nothing), and they have other symptoms on this list, it helps confirm a depression disagnosis.
2. The person has a sudden change in sleeping patterns
The classic sign of a sleeping change is a person staying it bed until after midday, but even a change to getting up really early in the morning can indicate depression.
3. The person suddenly loses interest in things and activities they used to enjoy
Everyone’s tastes and interests change over time. But when a person has been passionate about a hobby, club or regular activity for a long time then suddenly doesn’t want anything to do with it, depression may be the cause.
4. There is energy loss and presence of fatigue
Someone who is depressed can feel constantly tired, like they don’t have the energy to do anything – even if they have been sleeping and eating well.
5. The person loses hope
For someone with depression, there is never anything to hope for. They believe that bad things will always happen, and even if something good happens they will believe it’s either not real, or something bad will follow very shortly to undo the good event.
6. The person has a “My life is passing by” feeling
Usually present with the loss of hope, the person begins to feel that their life is starting to unravel before their eyes, or that no matter what they do they have no control over it. They may feel there is nothing they can do to change their life.
7. The person becomes indecisive
Someone who used to be confident in their decisions suddenly starts to second-guess themselves, becoming indecisive and not sure what decision they should make. Even something as minor as what they should eat becomes a big deal.
8. The person feels they are unworthy
The person begins to feel that they have nothing to live for, or even that they are unworthy of being loved or appreciated. If left unchecked, this can sometimes progress into the next symptom.
9. The person is suicidal
This is a major and alarming sign that a person is depressed and medical help is needed. No matter what the situation (and even if they aren’t showing any other signs of depression), do not delay in getting the person help.
10. The person becomes mentally disturbed
People who know the person well will notice that their thoughs seem to totally change – they may start thinking about morbid things, or bizare thoughts that they have never had before. In some cases, the person may even start hallucinating. This is another symptom where even if other signs of depression aren’t present, the person obviously needs help.
11. The person develops physical aches
For no obvious physical reason, the person starts to get aches or muscle pains in their body.
12. The person becomes antisocial
Someone who is depressed will often cut themselves off from friends and family, either making excuses about why they can’t join gatherings, ignoring all calls or visits, or even promising to meet up and then never showing. In some rare cases the person can exhibit the other extreme (they become afraid to be along and strive to always be with people, no matter how impractical).
Someone only having one or two of these symptoms is unlikely to have depression. And many of these symptoms can be the result of other problems in the persons life. But when several signs are present, it is important to treat the problem seriously and try to get help for your friend or family member.

Signs of Depression

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Image taken on by .
Depression can manifest itself anywhere at any time. Depression can isolate the people who suffer from it, from everyone including the people that they love. There are some signs of depression that can give us an early indication if we or someone that we know is suffering from depression.
As depression causes us to withdraw from society the symptoms create a buffer zone between normal quality life and us. Besides isolating the sufferer depression contributes towards a deteriorating physical condition, disables our ability to function in society and it affects our emotional health as well.
To the outside observer the signs of depression can be seen as a form of withdrawal or agitation. For the individual who suffers from depression the signs of depression are an internal state of stress. Even though the signs of depression are the same, each person will react differently to depression symptoms.
In each individual the severity of the signs of depression can vary as well as the length of time. For depression to be diagnosed accurately the symptoms need to last for more than two weeks. Also the possibility that the symptoms may be another medical condition must also be investigated and ruled out before any treatment and medication is prescribed.
The signs of depression include anxiety, sad moods that linger, feelings of persistent pessimism, guilt, worthlessness, hopelessness, loss of interest in daily activities, loss of sexual functioning, decreased energy and fatigue, insomnia, restlessness, or irritability.
Weight loss which can attributed to the loss of appetite, or an increase in weight due to overeating, oversleeping, early morning awakening, difficulty in making decisions, concentrating and thinking are also signs of depression. Also there can be chronic unexplainable pains, stomach pains, headaches, thought of suicide and death.
Should you experience some or all of these signs of depression, it would be a good idea to consult with a trained mental health specialist to see what can be done to alleviate your suffering. You can also find out what you can do to prevent the signs from taking over your entire life.
Since depression can cause you to feel that living is pointless the idea of suicide might arise. However as depression can be treated successfully you need to get help as soon as you can and try to find some activity or social interaction where you can slowly rebuild your life. Depression does not have to rule your life. You have the means of destroying its hold on you. All that you need is to seek some professional medical help and you are on your way back into life.

Can You Recognize Signs Of Depression ?

Saturday, January 2nd, 2010

Image taken on by .
We do not realize how important our brain is in control of every single thing we do, feel or experience. This is especially true for the feeling of hunger, sadness and euphoria. So what’s going on? Well, we have billion brain cells that are all interconnected and I live in what might be called a server. If the server is blocked for some reason, then this may be one of the signs of depression. Brain cells or neurons use neurotransmitters which are basically chemicals such as serotonin, endorphins and dopamine to send signals to other cells in our body. You get the message and respond. What would be a call to action, a feeling, a feeling, hunger, fatigue or sexual stimulation. It is when these brain chemicals angry for some reason that the signs of depression is starting to show.

Dopamine is very important to communicate feelings of pleasure that you get when you satisfy our hunger, thirst, sexual needs, or to experience joy through music and movement. If there is an imbalance in these neurotransmitters, then this means that the brain is not functioning and the moods and emotions will be compromised. This is what happens with depression as their primary neurotransmitter (serotonin) that control our mood is depleted and feelings of sadness and despair become pervasive. And “this feeling down, which is one of the first signs of depression. But this grief is not just a temporary phase of the blues, but there is still so much that we can not function normally at all of our daily lives.

Have you ever wondered why when we feel down, you start searching consolation from carbohydrates, which we call comfort food with good reason. Snacks binging could be an indication that the signs of depression is starting to show. Serotonin controls your appetite so that when our serotonin levels are low, we decide to self-medicate in a way, and start eating cakes and sweets to comfort us and our serotonin may rise again, but the impact on our waist latter can cause us to become even more depressed. Seems to be a vicious circle. Eating disorders are a sign of depression.

Other signs of depression may be a lack of interest in enjoyable activities, once again, indecision, lethargy, low energy and decreased sexual desire. Insomnia, guilt, headaches and indigestion all add to the mix and there are indications that the signs of depression are obvious. And “normal to feel down from time to time, but sometimes these feelings happen without reason and not go away. Depression is more than just a brief attack of the blues – is a condition that makes it difficult to function and get through life. When you are depressed, it’s easy to feel hopeless, but the right kind of treatment can help. It is still necessary to understand the conditions and decide what is best for you. Let’s look at some of the signs of depression that will help you to detect or does not affect your life.

Some of the signs of depression have trouble sleeping, or sleeping away most of the day. Tasks were easy become difficult, and the concentration can be difficult. Thoughts of helplessness and hopelessness are common, and many people find it difficult to control their negative thoughts. They may feel annoyed or irritated, or light burst into tears. Loss of appetite and extreme eating is also common. You may feel that life is not worth their lives. These may be signs of depression.

Women are more likely to overeat, gain weight, sleeping too much and feel a strong sense of guilt, whereas depressed men are more likely to be aggressive, violent, ruthless and complains about lack of sleep and fatigue. Men are at greater risk for suicide from depression than men.
